24th Annual Dragon Doc Tournament

The Dragon Doc Tournament was established 24 years ago by Dr. Gary Myerson, a dedicated squash player, semi-retired rheumatologist, and beloved member of the Atlanta squash community. Affectionately known as the "Dragon Doc"—a nickname inspired by his collection of over 600 dragon-themed items—Dr. Myerson created the tournament as a way to bring people together through sport, camaraderie, and community spirit.

From its humble beginnings, Dr. Myerson not only sponsored the event but also encouraged his colleagues in the medical field to support it. Thanks to his passion and persistence, the Dragon Doc has grown into a widely anticipated annual tradition that celebrates fitness, fun, and friendship.

Today, the tournament is proudly hosted by Atlanta Community Squash and serves as a fundraiser for A+ Squash, a 501C3 nonprofit, dedicated to transforming the lives of young students through academics and the sport of squash. A+ Squash equips students with life skills, discipline, and opportunity, using the game as a powerful vehicle for education and personal growth.

It is specifically held every August, since no other sanctioned tournaments are played in the summer. The Dragon Doc Tournament stands as a lasting tribute to Dr. Myerson’s legacy—promoting wellness, resilience, and the power of sport to build a better community.
